Guide to Loss Prevention in Glass Bottle Logistics

[ April 07, 2026 ]

In the circulation of glass products, transportation damage has always been a difficult problem for both manufacturing enterprises and purchasers. Strengthening full-chain protection and minimizing damage rates are the keys to enhancing supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction. The following are practical damage prevention tips for glass bottles from packaging to delivery.

The selection of packaging materials and structure directly determine the protective effect. The inner layer preferentially uses bubble wrap and EPE pearl cotton to independently wrap the bottle body, with a focus on reinforcing the fragile parts such as the bottle mouth and bottom. The middle layer is separated by corrugated partitions to prevent direct contact between bottles. The outer layer is made of double corrugated thickened cartons or solid wooden boxes, which have stronger load-bearing capacity and are more resistant to compression. When packing, leave no gaps. Fill all the gaps with foam particles and shock-absorbing pads to ensure that there is no shaking space for the bottle body inside the box. The outer box should be prominently marked with labels such as "Fragile", "Handle with Care", and "Up". For international transportation, corresponding foreign language warning labels should be affixed.

Standardized handling is the core to reducing man-made damage. Manual handling is strictly prohibited. Small goods should be handled with silent trolleys, while large quantities of goods should be handled with forklifts in conjunction with pallets. During the handling process, keep the passage unobstructed and do not move together with heavy or sharp goods. The stacking height is moderate, neither too high nor too heavy, to prevent the center of gravity from being unstable and toppling over. Train the workers to master the correct posture, emphasize lifting and placing gently, and strictly follow the safety operation procedures.

Transportation control needs to be refined. Choose the appropriate mode of transportation based on the volume of the goods and the destination. For long-distance transportation, give priority to enclosed box trucks to reduce exposure to the sun and rain in the open air. When loading, secure it firmly and use straps to prevent sliding. When driving, control your speed, avoid potholes and complex road conditions, and reduce severe vibrations. In bad weather, the departure will be postponed. If transportation is necessary, enhanced protection measures will be taken and the condition of the goods will be checked regularly during the journey.

Delivery and acceptance are indispensable. Upon arrival, open the box immediately for inspection to check the integrity of the packaging, whether there are any cracks, damages or contamination from fragments on the bottle body. Establish an abnormal handling mechanism, clarify the responsibility for cargo damage and the compensation process, and force the logistics link to improve service quality. Enterprises should regularly review the causes of cargo damage, optimize packaging structures and transportation plans, and form a stable and reliable safe transportation system.
